Children's influenza sessions

Council is providing two free immunisation sessions for children who need a second influenza booster shot on Thursday 25 June, 2020.

The sessions are being held at:

  • 10am to 11am
  • 11am to 12pm

To register, visit our EventBrite page here

Influenza vaccination is the most important measure we have to prevent influenza and its complications and is recommended for all people aged 6 months and over.

To assist the community Council provides a series of influenza vaccination programs. The program provides a free vaccination for anyone who is eligible:

  • All children aged 6 months to less than 5 years (Victorian Government Funded)
  • All children requiring a second vaccination
  • All Aboriginal And Torres Strait Islander people aged from 6 months
  • All adults aged 65 years and over
  • All people aged 6 months or older who have certain medical conditions that increase their risk of influenza disease complications, for example severe asthma, lung or hear disease, low immunity or diabetes
  • Pregnant women (during any stage of pregnancy)

Seasonal Flu Vaccines

Whilst flu vaccination does not prevent against COVID-19, a flu vaccination is critical in protecting the general health of Australians from influenza, which can take between 100 to 1,000 lives per year depending on the severity.

Expert medical advice is that everyone aged six months and over should be vaccinated against influenza this year, and every year, to protect themselves and others in the community.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, all flu sessions must now be booked in to one of our flu immunisation sessions. Anyone who has not booked will not be able to attend a session. We have made some important changes to our sessions:

  • Anyone with cold or flu symptoms will not be able to attend a session.
  • Anyone who has been overseas in the past 14 days will not be able to attend a session.
  • Social-distancing will be in place when you enter a session.
