1. Overview

Central Goldfields Shire Council provides a free vaccination program in accordance with the National Immunisation Program Schedule.  The aim of this program is to prevent the incidents of vaccine preventable diseases within our population.

Immunisation is a simple, safe and effective way of protecting people against harmful diseases. Immunisation not only protects individuals, but also others in the community, by reducing the spread of preventable diseases.

Our accredited immunisers work in accordance with the Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Regulations 2017.

For a full list of immunisations provided by Central Goldfields Shire Council see the National Immunisation Program Schedule.

2. Infant and Childhood Immunisation

All Council infant and childhood immunisation consultations are by appointment with our Maternal and Child Health team, to make an appointment call  03 5461 1154.  Consultation hours are between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Friday.

No Jab No Play

Victoria’s new No Jab No Play laws mean parents or guardians seeking to enrol children in an Early Childhood Service, Primary or Secondary school must provide evidence of their child’s immunisation.

No Jab No Pay

Similar to the No Jab No Play laws, the No Jab No Pay rules mean only parents of children (under 20 years of age) who are fully immunised or on an immunisation catch-up schedule will receive full family assistance payments.

Immunisation Certificates

Parents can view or print a copy of their child’s immunisation certificate through the Medicare link on their MyGov or through their Medicare express account.  Alternatively certificates can be ordered from the Australian Immunisation Register on 1800 653 809.

Immunisation reminder service

VaxOnTime is an app that sends a reminder when your child’s immunisations are due.  It is free and available through apple and google play stores.

3. Secondary School Immunisation

Council provides immunisations to secondary school students as prescribed by the National Immunisation Program Schedule.

Eligible students receive these vaccines at no cost, through a school-based immunisation program.

For more information contact your child’s school or the Council’s Adolescent and Adult Immunisation Nurse on 0417 552 882, Wednesday and Thursday.

4. Adult Flu Vaccination

Council provides an annual influenza program for businesses and residents within the Shire.
