Following the most unprecedented world pandemic over the past 2 plus years the region is coming back to life with a raft of amazing events over the coming months in Central Goldfields Shire.

First up we have entertainment icon Denise Drysdale adorning the Highland Society stage on Monday October 10 to kick off the Seniors Week Festival- this free event will get underway from 11.30 and Denise to take to the stage from 1.30pm.

On the 15th of October the inaugural Goldfields Community Festival will take place in Phillips Gardens for Go Goldfields, Committee for Maryborough and Maryborough Rotary. It is a chance for families and residents new and old to come together to connect and celebrate. The festival will run from 11-4 and will feature music, art, games, rides, information, food and activities- all of which will be available for FREE.

For the first time since 2006 the Dunolly Gold Rush Festival will take place on October 22-23, with the Dunolly Music Festival getting things underway at the Dunolly Golf Course on the Saturday and a full day of activities planned at Gordon Gardens for the Sunday. There will be archery demonstrations, gold panning, prospecting demonstrations, historic selfies, barefoot bowling- plenty to see and do for the whole family.

Making its triumphant return to celebrate its 30+ years, the Energy Breakthrough will take place on the 16th to the 20th of November. After a two-year interruption due to the pandemic, Princes Park will come alive again with more than 5,000 students from over 110 schools around Victoria. Local tourism, hospitality, accommodation, and retail businesses are set to benefit from an influx of visitors with a crowd of over 20,000 expected to attend the event, providing a much needed/welcomed boost to the region’s economy.

Very exciting times ahead for our Shire.
