Central Goldfields Shire Council awarded the Maryborough Skate and Scooter Park design and construction contract to Grind Projects.

The $605,000 contract was awarded at last week’s Council Meeting (23/03).

Grind Projects have years of experience and have a high industry experience in the design and construction of skate parks.

The skate and scooter park is set to be built along Lake Road, Maryborough, in Princes Park near Lake Victoria and the adventure playground and barbecue area.

The project has been made possible thanks to $250,000 in State Government funding and $395,000 from Council.

Central Goldfields Shire Maryborough Ward Cr Wayne Sproull said he looked forward to the construction of the skate and scooter park.

“The Maryborough Skate and Scooter Park is a Priority Project for Council and was identified after more than 1000 youths signed a petition in 2018 for a new skate park and presented it to Council,” he said.

“This is a very exciting project for the community and I look forward to seeing the end result.”

Throughout 2019 and 2020, Council held several information and community engagement sessions to determine the skate and scooter park’s design and its preferred location.

Council engaged with skate park design and construction experts Convic who facilitated design sessions with community members.
