Government restrictions

Council services that were altered during the recent lockdown have now resumed.

Some restrictions remain in place across Victoria:

  • Masks mandatory indoors and outdoors – when you can’t socially distance
  • 5 visitors to your home
  • 20 people allowed at public gatherings

Rate payment deadline extended

Due to recent Government restrictions we’ve extended the rate payment deadline.

Ratepayers who pay their rates in FULL now have until Friday, 28 February to make their payment.

Ratepayers who pay their rates by INSTALMENT - the third instalment remains payable by Friday, 28 February.

February Council Meeting

Our February Council Meeting will be held this Tuesday, 23 February at 6pm. The public isn't able to attend due to COVID-19 Government restrictions, however the meeting will be live streamed on the Central Goldfields Shire Facebook page.

Local Government Satisfaction Survey

Each year, we participate in the Victorian Government’s state-wide Local Government Community Satisfaction Survey.

Residents and households may receive a telephone phone call from now until March from the independent market research agency, National Field Services asking a number of questions about different services Council provides.

The survey is conducted by independent researchers, JWS Research.

Works Round-Up

Our Operations team have been busy with the following projects recently:

  • Gravel re-sheeting along Taggart Drive, Daisy Hill
  • Line marking works continuing in Dunolly, Talbot and around Majorca
  • Window frames at the Maryborough Airport terminal repaired due to termite damage
  • Broken eaves repaired on Dunolly Caravan Park toilet block
  • Jubilee Oval, Hedges Oval and Princes Park (including the Princes Park hockey fields) fertilised
  • Road grading - Timbertop Rd, Bet Bet; Peart Rd, Betley; Peart Lane, Betley; and Georges Road, Bet Bet
  • New soft fall at the Timor playground
  • Road patching trucks carrying out general maintenance in preparation for sealing works

 

Sports Infrastructure Fund open

The State Government's 2021 Local Sports Infrastructure Fund is now open. The fund provides a range of grant opportunities across five funding streams: Better Indoor Stadiums; Female Friendly Facilities; Community Sports Lighting; Facilities for Active Seniors; and Scoreboards and Fixed Equipment.

If you have a project that may be eligible please complete an expression of interest form and submit it to Council’s Recreation team with the supporting documents, via email to mail@cgoldshire.vic.gov.au by 5pm Wednesday, 3 March 2021.

If you would like to find out more, or discuss your project further, an information session is being held on Monday 22 February from 5.30 to 6.30pm at the Community Hub, Maryborough.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions places are limited. Please book to attend the session in person and wear a mask when in attendance. An online option will also be provided.

Electric Vehicle charging station installed

An Electric Vehicle charging station has been installed outside the Community Hub in Maryborough - the first of 17 sites across the

region.

The project has been funded by the State Government ‘Charging the Regions’ project, led by Central Victorian Greenhouse Alliance and delivered in partnership with 11 neighbouring councils.

Use of the EV Charging Station is FREE for the first two months – until Monday 12 April 2021. This means Electric Vehicle users can charge up for a 90-minute period at no cost.

Digitising the Gallery’s collection

Work to digitise the Central Goldfield Art Gallery’s permanent collection is well underway and has been made possible thanks to funding through the State Government’s Working for Victoria program.

An online database of the Gallery’s collection is expected by Autumn this year which will mean people anywhere in the world, will be able to see and enjoy the Gallery’s collection and connect with the history of the Central Goldfields region.
