Art Gallery funding

We have been successful in securing $1.2 million in additional funding from the State Government for stages 2 and 3 of the Central Goldfields Art Gallery’s redevelopment project.

Funded through the Regional Tourism Investment Fund – Stimulus Round, the funding complements the $500,000 we received last year for the project.

The redevelopment will see the Art Gallery – located in the 1861 historic fire station - refurbished and extended, including opening the wooden doors at the front of the Gallery to create a welcoming entrance, increasing Gallery exhibition spaces and the installation of improved environmental and climate controls.

Also included will be remodelling to internal Gallery spaces, improved storage facilities for the Shire’s art collection, creation of an open contemporary reception and improved accessibility and visitor services amenities.

Accessible Parking Permit

Victoria is transitioning to the new Accessible Parking Permit (APP) Scheme and online administration system.

From 22 March 2021, we will be transitioning to the new APP Scheme.

Our residents and organisations who require a new permit, or need to renew or replace a permit, will need to apply with the new application process.

The Accessible Parking Permit Scheme includes a number of improvements including:

  • introducing 6, 12 and 24 month temporary permits
  • increasing permit lengths from 3 to 5 years
  • removing the need for permit holders with a permanent medical condition or disability to undertake a medical assessment when they renew their permits.

Occupational Therapists will also now be able to assess applications, in addition to General Practitioners.

In line with the new scheme, Council will remove the $12.25 renewal processing fee, making the process easier and more affordable for local residents.

Contractors will undertake yearly Broadleaf spraying for Caltrop (Bindii) in selected areas throughout the municipality.

Road re-construction works on Gillies Street (between Majorca Road and Fuller Street) and Rogers Street (between Gillies Street and Railway Street) in Maryborough have commenced.

The project includes drainage, kerb and channel works and road pavement construction.
