Daisy Hill Community Plan

The Daisy Hill Community Plan was adopted by Council in March 2024.

Council has been working alongside the Daisy Hill community to support them in creating their very own community plan since 2022.

Community members have come together across two workshops to share their ideas to make Daisy Hill an even better place to live. A survey was also conducted in July last year with hard copies distributed to every household in the township with a further opportunity to provide feedback offered earlier this year.

Central Goldfields Shire Paddys Ranges Ward Cr Chris Meddows-Taylor said community plans were an important tool for supporting advocacy and seeking funding and resources to support community goals and aspirations.

“It’s been a rewarding process as we’ve worked closely together to understand what the community’s shared vision is and what they see as their strengths and what their future priorities are.

“Implementation of the Daisy Hill Community Plan will be led by the local community with Council to offer guidance, advice, advocacy and support where possible. Relevant key stakeholders/project partners and other government departments will be invited to work together with the Daisy Hill community on shared priorities.

“The Daisy Hill Community Centre Committee is a terrific group to work with. It’s a pleasure to work closely with them and see their real commitment to lead community participation. The Plan that will ensure Daisy Hill can be an even better place to be in the future.

“As a first step to implement the Daisy Hill Community Plan, Council officers are exploring the potential to upgrade catering capacity and efficiency with a larger, mobile, and more suitable BBQ at the Daisy Hill Community Centre, which will support the multiple community gatherings at key points through the year.”

President of the Daisy Hill Community Centre Bill Robinson said this more formalised planning integrated with community input and Council assistance is a great way to work towards our goals.

“The Community Centre has grown to be the hub of our township and a central point for locals. Currently we have a number of groups utilising the facility from Craft and sewing groups , Yoga, and a Music Group, to many special events.”

What is a community plan?

A community plan is a document that sets the community’s shared vision, captures its strengths and sets future priorities.Community plans  are developed and owned by the community and  capture the community’s voice  for what is most important for them. Community plans are an important tool for supporting advocacy and seeking funding and resources to support community goals and aspirations.

Who is the community plan for?

The Daisy Hill Community Plan is for the community; however delivery of the plan will be the shared responsibility of community members, Council, other government, business and key stakeholder groups and organisations.

What are the benefits of community planning?

  • Develops a shared vision for the community
  • Identifies and prioritises community needs
  • Builds community knowledge, skills, spirit, connections, civic engagement and pride
  • Helps Council and other stakeholders understand the needs and aspirations of communities and how to work well together to achieve these
  • Community leaders/groups working well together towards shared outcomes; and
  • Strengthens relationships between community and Council and other key partners.
