Firewood Collection Permit

There are rules and regulations surrounding the roadside collection of firewood.

Council generally manages roadside collection while Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) is responsible for designated fire collection areas within State Forest.

The Chief Health Officer has issued directions that require all Victorians to stay at home for other than prescribed reasons to help slow the spread of COVID-19. It is recognised, however, that some people may need to collect firewood as an essential supply depending on their circumstances.

Collection of firewood from State Forests is only allowed in designated areas during the spring or autumn collection season.
