Multiple Dogs and Cats

Residents are allowed to keep up to two dogs and/or two cats without a permit in a residential area and up to six dogs and four cats in a rural/farming area.

Under Council’s Local Law No 1, it is an offence to keep more than two dogs and/or two cats on any one property in a residential or commercial area, or more than six dogs and/or four cats in a rural or farming area, without a permit.

Additional approval from Council’s Planning department may be required, please seek advice form Council's Planning team prior to lodging your application.
