HAVE YOUR SAY

Draft Budget and Draft Financial Sustainability Strategy

The 2024-25 Draft Budget and the Draft Financial Sustainability Strategy are now available for the community to review and provide feedback.

The Draft Budget is focused on implementing the key objectives of the 2021-2025 Council Plan as well as our commitment to deliver more than 36 services for the community.

The purpose of the Financial Sustainability Strategy is to make sure, despite the current economic challenges, our financial health remains strong into the future.

Feedback on both documents is invited until Friday, 24 May 2024.

To view the documents and provide feedback visit: www.engage.cgoldshire.vic.gov.au/budget2024

Community members are also invited to attend a drop-in community information session on Thursday 9 May from 4 to 7pm at the Community Hub in Maryborough. Attendance is welcomed at any time between 4 and 7pm - with two formal presentations to be made at 4.30pm and 6pm.

Road Management Plan

The review of our Road Management Plan is important because it determines the way in which Council manages, inspects, repairs and maintains its roads.

The aim is to ensure our road network is safe and well presented, while affordable for our community.

You can find out more, review the Draft Plan and provide feedback by Friday, 10 May by visiting: www.engage.cgoldshire.vic.gov.au/roadmanagementplan2024

Memorials

monument.2.war.memorial.maryborough.jpg

We are currently inviting feedback on our Memorials Policy.

We recognise that members of the community may wish to use a public space to commemorate a loved one through the planting of a memorial tree, erection of a monument, memorials and plaques or the naming of public spaces.

The Memorials Policy is important because it ensures requests are assessed in a consistent and accountable way.

You can read the Draft Policy and provide feedback until 2pm, Monday 27 May.

PATHS AND ROADS

footpath.wheelchair.access.GRAB.png

Our Operations team have been busy with the following projects:

  • Footpath wheelchair ramps have been constructed at the locations of the new disabled car parks in Neill and Campbell Streets, Maryborough. This will improve access for patients accessing Maryborough District Health Service and the surrounding medical clinics.
  • The new footpath in Carisbrook along Bucknall Street is now complete.
  • A new footpath is being constructed along Kars Street, Maryborough, with works expected to take 4-5 weeks.
  • Kerb and channel works are underway along Margaret Avenue, Maryborough. The road remains open with modified traffic conditions in place until the end of May.
  • Thanks to favourable weather conditions, road grading is underway at locations across the Shire. An additional grading crew will commence in June. We’ll keep you up to date on areas of high activity as the dates approach.

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers are the lifeblood of communities across Australia – including ours!

The reality is that volunteering is changing, and we know that many volunteers, community groups and organisations locally are doing it tough.

To help support you better, and to try and tackle these challenges together, we have partnered with the Maryborough Volunteer Resource Centre, to bring you three opportunities.

Changing Face of Volunteering – Something for Everyone Forum

Help us shape what comes next for volunteering in our Shire by attending the Changing Face of Volunteering – Something for Everyone Forum:

Why go?

  • Learn about the latest trends in volunteering and why you need to know this. Share and learn from other groups – what’s going well for them and what isn’t
  • Meet new people and make new connections
  • Discover new volunteering opportunities
  • Find out how you can get involved in the local community
  • Be celebrated, be valued!

National Volunteer Week – thank you evening

That’s why we are hosting a series of grant writing workshops to help give you the skills and info you need to write successful applications. The workshops are being led by the Maryborough Volunteer Resource Centre with support from Council.

We encourage you to join us at one, or all of the following sessions to be held at the Maryborough Community Hub.
