Safety improvements
A number of safety improvements will be carried out at the intersection of Nolan and Napier Streets in Maryborough.
Council staff have been working with the Department of Transport (formerly VicRoads) and local businesses in the vicinity of the intersection to address the safety concerns raised by the community.
Initial actions that are planned to be implemented include:
- Improve intersection sight distance along Napier Street by means of altering the no parking zone and formalising carparking by providing line marking.
- Address the traffic flow to the Metro Service Station - this is to be addressed by the operators of the service station installing signage to encourage one way entry from Nolan Street and exit onto Napier Street.
These works are expected to commence in the next month.

Community Satisfaction Survey
We’ve shifted from annual to quarterly telephone interviews for the Community Satisfaction Survey.
This means National Field Services will conduct 100 calls per quarter of the coming year.
The second quarter calls will begin on September 1 until 30 September so your household might receive a call to ask you a range of questions about the different services Council provides.
The information you provide will help us to identify ways to provide improved or more effective service delivery to our residents.
Your details and individual responses are confidential, and we appreciate your valuable feedback.
Results will still be reported once per year as normal.
GET INVOLVED
This Girl Can
In partnership with VicHealth and Sports Focus, we’re gearing up to celebrate ‘This Girl Can’ Week 2022.
The campaign aims to inspire women and girls to get active, however and whenever they choose – without being judged.
We’re calling on community members to nominate clubs, groups and individuals who are breaking down the barriers and getting active.
We’ll then profile them and their work as part of ‘This Girl Can’ Week between September 12 and 18.
For more information, and to nominate, visit www.engage.cgoldshire.vic.gov.au/thisgirlcancgs

Amended governance rules public exhibition period
Council proposes to amend its Governance Rules in line with changes to the Local Government Act 2020.
The amendments include provisions relating to electronic attendance and participation in Council meetings as well as small amendments to apply more gender-neutral language in the document.
The Regulatory Legislation Amendment (Reform) Act 2022 to be introduced into the Local Government Act 2020 on 2 September 2022 makes permanent the temporary provisions relating to electronic attendance and participation in Council meetings which all Councils have been operating under for the past three years.
The community are invited to make a submission on the proposed amendments until Thursday 8 September 2022 at www.engage.cgoldshire.vic.gov.au/governancerules
