Flood recovery – roads
Our roads, like many roads across the state, have been hard hit by the recent flood events.
Full restoration works on our road, bridge and drainage network will be a long-term challenge. It’s going to take time and will require extensive funding through Victorian Government recovery funding streams.
To secure the funding, the condition of our roads, bridges and drainage culverts are being assessed by an independent contractor, with more than 60 percent of our road and small drain network already assessed.
More than 880 repairs have already been identified as part of this assessment.
Work has also started on assessment of our major bridges and culverts.
A priority list of works and improvements is now being complied to be submitted to the Victorian Government for funding to deliver the works that are needed.
This includes a list of emergency repairs, with a contractor already being sought to complete these works.
In the meantime, Council will continue to do regular road maintenance to make our roads as safe as possible.
We’ll continue to keep our community updated as this process continues.

Mowing update
As one of the wettest years on record in Victoria, the saturated ground conditions have made it difficult for Council to keep on top of growth along our roadsides and reserves.
For Council to manage the growth along our roadsides and reserves, over the coming weeks we’ll be using internal and external contractor crews.
Crews commenced in the Dunolly area and are moving south.
For a list of roads that have been mowed so far to date visit www.centralgoldfields.vic.gov.au/roadsideslashing2022
We’ll continue to provide regular updates as crews move across our Shire.
